Animation Projects
Here are some of the animation projects I have worked on, either alone or in collaboration with others.
"How About Mythology?"
This is a short scene I animated to audio I sourced from the “11 Second Club”. I had a lot of fun leaning into the “acting” side of animating, using facial expressions and body language to help the characters and their relationship with each other feel alive and natural. Animating with more than one character in a scene was another challenge I enjoyed facing.
Chook'n and the Space-Time "Eggs"-Splosion
I was invited to contribute some animations to the indie game Chook'n and the Space-Time "Eggs"-Splosion, a platforming game centred around a chicken who travels to different dimensions to save his friends. I ended up creating animations for two characters: Farmer Jenkins, an NPC found in the game's hub world, as well as a generic, alien pirate enemy. This was a really fun project to work on. Seeing the animation work I'd done in-engine for the first time was a true delight. I was also able to get some experience animating more cartoonish characters, which was an interesting challenge, as I had to create movement that would be clearly visible to the player, while avoiding clipping issues.
Demon
This was a small project I undertook solo to familiarise myself with the full animation pipeline. I sourced the model online, drew up some storyboards to plan the character's movement, and added some basic lighting to the scene. Even though my focus is on 3D animation, thanks to this project I feel reasonably familiar with the other areas of the pipeline
The storyboard I drew up:
Wario and Waluigi Fight
This was a short skit I created for fun starring Wario and Waluigi from the Mario games, with audio from The Simpsons. I rigged the models myself using Blender's "rigify" addon, which I am becoming quite proficient with. It was a lot of fun getting to play around with more over-the-top and cartoonish characters, as I felt free to really push myself with their poses.
